Child Trafficking Awareness That Will Blow You Away

My dear friend, Magda, is an award-winning director, working day and night toward an incredible goal.  I'll let her tell you about it, and show you how it takes us all to make great accomplishments happen:

Magda's Human Trafficking Video

I look forward to contributing a well. A collection of poems centered around Human Trafficking might be on the horizon. What do you think? Should I go for it?

Illegal, immoral- to no avail
Each day, although new
Eerily the same as before
Commodities, my brother and me
He for forced labor
And me- more demeaning form
Of slavery, I dare not mutter
Confirming this nightmare
To be true
A life mama could not protect us
Daddy long gone
His body discarded, disintegrating
How do I, or we?
Fight to stand a chance
Thirty billion dollar industry
Over one million children
Just like my brother and me
Lost, forgotten faces
Haunted by our lives
More than nightmares

A few additional tidbits about this topic:
  • 10% of victims report corruption of high level officers and law enforcement
  • 45% of the recruiters are female
  • Only 1 person is convicted for every 800 individuals trafficked
Please help create an awareness that peace and freedom might prevail.

Convicts Get A New Start with Starting Over Strong

Starting Over Strong is a Nonprofit organization out of Butte County that helps former criminals get their record expunged. I've always appreciated their efforts and their work in the public. In their honor and out of support, I am working on a new poetry project for their benefit.

A Prisoner's Heart is a collection of poetry that will be available within the next 4 months. A portion of the proceeds will be going to Starting Over Strong.

Here is an excerpt from the project:

A diagnosis
Force a bright smile
Fade away and hide
Easy-going manner
Perplexed, overtaken
Furrowed brows of disbelief
A life so short
Far shorter now
No parental support
Unavailable to know
Orphaned so long ago
Heart-breaking news
Debilitating disease
Needles can bring
At only seventeen.

I look forward to sharing this process and journey with my readers and friends. Thank you for your support and for reading my poem.

Your Neighborhood Poet,

My Hunger Games Dilemna. Poems for the Tributes.

I wrote two poems in honor of The Hunger Games Series. One for Katniss, the other for Peeta. I'm so excited to see the movie tonight, that rather than posting one or the other, I figure I'll go ahead an post both.

Brave girl
Our grief is carried
Alongside your heavy spirit
If such a destiny
Could be revoked
Not a Soul could resist
Take your place

Life as it plays
Whispering our fates
Know hearts beat
Alongside yours
With mighty fierceness
United in the pulse
Of united kinship

Step forward
Solid, courgaeous
Embrace your path
The winds of change
Fragrance the air with hope
A fresh spring
For you alone
One with the power
To change the course
Of history

A boy
Wandering down his path
Entwining absolution, determination
Interlocked fingers
Unmatched compassion
Unconditional understanding
Soft, kind heart
Unblemished by horrors
Encased by the world
Submerged in passion
True of soul
Glimmering reflections
Back in still waters
You see clearly
Piercing through distorted lenses
Though masacred humanity
Cannot bear to release you
No, no, not unscathed
Taking the mighty heart
Your brilliant mind
Convaluting your meaning for life
Even in your vision

As a Man
Here you stand
Scarcely recognizable
After trials, tribulations
Have poinsoned you
Calling your name
Whispers of a haunting sort
Wishing and urging
Step forward
Into skeletal shadows
Courage, now clenched
In a fist of steadiness
Persevere through trying times
Fight with dignity
Determine to return
To who you once were
Drowsy in your purpose
Patient when you cross
Destined thresholds
Sing our hearts alive
Beating as one
In honor of your success
Beauty preserved
For generations to come.

Thank you for taking the time to read my poems. I'm considering including them in one of my upcoming poetry collection releases...what do you think? If you haven't the slightest as to what I'm referencing, I've included the Official Trailer for the movie. The count-down is on! Welcome to the 74th Hunger Games.

10 Core Concepts For Making Your Dreams Come True

Words of wisdom from Jack Canfield's Life Coach (or Dream Coach, as she would prefer), Marcia Weider.

1. Set an Intention

Intention is the rudder, it steers our life where we want it to go. Prevents us from climbing ladders up the wrong buildings.

2. Maintain Integrity

Intention and Integrity form the key building block to manifestation. Having integrity clears the past.

3. Live on Purpose

With purpose, the quality of your dreams will change. Without purpose, it's easy to do that climbing ladders up the wrong buildings thing.

4. Access Your Dreamer

Create a dynamic relationship with CDs you are passionate about. Like Zig Ziglar said, "You can't put fuel in your car one time and drive forever. Same works for motivation."

5. Learn From Your Doubter

Your doubts can sabotage your dreams OR an opportunity to deepen your commitment.

6. Believe in Your Dreams

If you don't, no one else will either. You prove you believe in your dreams when you take action.

7. Create Personal Practices

Use lessons to develop the powerful tools that will deepen what you want and change what needs to happen to get you there.

8. Take Serious Steps Forward

Plan essential strategies to ensure your success. In the end, it all comes down to moving forward on the projects and practical steps for making your dreams real.

9. Build Your Dream Team

Ask for help and make it easy for people to say, "Yes!"

10. Live as a Dreamer

Once clear on purpose, dreams and beliefs, look at all areas of your life and decide what you do and don't what. You choose.

According to Ms. Weider, "This process works on any personal or professional dream."

Cheers to your dreams and success,

An aura of hope
Bringing to others
Gifts from beyond
A salve

Always extended
In friendship to all
Mankind in need
Is whom you serve
Such a privilege

Everlasting deeper meaning
Showing your leanings
With those
Fortunate enough
To listen
Deep mind
Rallying through obstacles
Fighting alongside companions
Of their sense of need
Providing compassion
Understanding, empathy
No greater gifts could exist
Heartfelt friendship
Deliberate consideration
Contributions to life
To existence
Endless-your horizon
Embracing willing discoveries
Explorer of beings
Undistracted by falsehoods
Integrity and rewards
Are yours.

True Blue

Kindness radiates
From blue eyes
Allowing the vulnerable
Troubled and homesick
Ease in the confines
Of your presence

While all wear masks
Yours is transparent
Allowing the world
Flooding in unfiltered
Unblemished and unjudged
Despite worldly pressures

Many misjudge
Such a trait as weakness
Lack of faith
That bravery exists
Failing to understand
The courage daily
In demand

Far easier for eyes
To be closed than open
Yet yours remain
Pealed and searching
No matter threatening
Hours of darkness
Trying to scare

You- destined for greatness
Already great
On a higher path
Dusted off
Filled with inner light
Glowing- A true story
