I remember what it was like to be alone for the holidays.  There were times it could be very hard.  Yet I am so glad I went through that time in my life.  I am grateful for two reasons.

1. It means something very special to be with my true love.
2. I learned to enjoy the holiday by myself, so my happiness was not depended on other people.

​Today, I am going to share with you the exact steps I took to find true love.

True Love Template

You were meant for love.  There is no question about it.  Love is all that matters.  Love is all there is.
Yet the first step is learning to love you.  In your uniqueness, with your quirks and eccentricities

1. Learn to Love You First.

2. Make Room in Your Life For Love.

I learned to make room by clearing out my closet, only sleeping on one side of my bed, getting two glasses of water, setting the table for two.  Listening to songs and watching movies as though I wasn't alone.  I began generating the feelings necessary to believe I was not only worthy of love but that someone was meant to reciprocate those feelings.

3.Feel What the Experience of Love Will Be Like.

4. Be Willing to Accept Love.

Yes, love can make you vulnerable.  Vulnerability can be scary too!
If it has the potential to hurt, why should we even bother?

I remember a question asked of Esther Hicks that was very similar to this.

"​Why do dogs continue to stick their heads out the car window, even when they get gnats in their eye?"

​The answer:

​​"Even though there risks involved, the exhilaration of life keeps us living."

It is my hope you can take this knowledge and use it to your greatest benefit.  You were meant for love.  Always remember, you are precious.

When I feel exhausted, tired and defeated, there is nothing like the comfort of a hot bath to ease my senses and put the world back in perspective for me.

As a gift last year, I provided to all my loved ones a "Basket of Happiness."

Within this basket, held the ingredients to my bath.  Today, I will share these ​heaven sents​ (which are heaven scents as well).

• Spearmint-Scented Bath Sea Salt (Promotes purifying aromatherapy and muscle relaxation.)
• Lavender Bath Oil (Improves mood and decreases tense feelings.)
• Milk Bath (Enhances silky, moisturized skin.)

Two Creative Templates,

Again, to represent this gift, I have two items in mind. Both have been created by hand, to demonstrate the simplicity and usefulness of each tool.

The first, I have never shared online before.  It's a brainstorming method I called Creative Caterpillar.  It takes a main idea, and breaks down the major ideas as the body.  The finer points can be detailed out through the legs.  I've provided both a blank template and a demonstration below:

The second item is a small-step planning tool I use called Tidbits.   Tidbits is a template which you can use to achieve your visions for your life.

There is an important question I get all the time.

"What, exactly, are tidbits?"

Tidbits are mini steps that help you get from where you are to where you want to be.  Small goals, that are realistic, but help you take that baby step forward.

Here I have provided a blank template, as well as another demo for you.

It is my hope you can put these templates to good use as you make your way along on your journey.

On the First Day of Christmas,

A "Namaste" to Honor My Life.

​"Namaste," ​is a Sanskrit word meaning "all that is good in me, honors all that is good in you."
To represent this gift, I have two items in mind.
The first, is a short passage on the subject, derived from my stay in India.  Here, I have borrowed the excerpt from a memoir I finished this year, ​Finding Yourself in a Suitcase.​

"We took off up river, toward the rope bridge.  Many villagers were taking their dip of the day in the Ganges River.  They were pleasant and peaceful. 
          A Saddhu in his orange robes walked toward us along the river.  Saddhu’s were considered dangerous as many were escaped criminals who posed at wise men to maintain their freedom.  They changed their story as well as their names.  We tensed as the thin, unkempt man approached us.  As we approached one another, he raised his head.  Kind eyes met ours.  He greeted us with his hands together in prayer position and bowed.
          “Namaste,” he said.
          “Namaste,” we returned.
          He passed us as peaceful as a holy man could hope to pass..."

Start Your Story Series - Day 7

Congratulations!

Fellow Writing Rock Star, you have made it to Day 7!  With any hope I won't go into withdrawals now the the series will be ending. 

As today is the final day of the Start Your Story Series, by now, you have done a great deal of the prep work for your story.

Now that you have direction and storyline, characters and you know all about them, are you ready for the final touch?

You're ready to get out of the wading pool and dive-in the deep end.  Your story will be ready for you to write that first draft as soon as you do this.

Day 7: 

Can you bullet-point some of the key experiences your characters will encounter 

during the course of your story?

Once your have your bullet-points, it will serve you as a road map. When you get lost along your writing journey, you will have your foundation for your story done.  It's not set in stone but provides a foundation for writing a successful story.

As with any story, writers must remain flexible for improvements and strokes of genius, character development, story development and opportunities to hone your craft will constantly move your forward.

Start Your Story Series - Day 6

Welcome to Day 6!

I am glad you are still along for this journey and I hope these tidbits have been helpful for you.

Moving on to today... Now that you know your main characters and what your story will be about:

Day 6:

Let's talk about your supporting characters. 

Who are they?

What purpose will they serve?

How will the supporting characters help the main characters experience the things they will in the story?

The supporting characters should feel like acquaintances in your life.  People you know, are familiar with, many of whom have identifiable qualities... just ensure all of the supporting characters exist for the purpose of moving your story forward and supporting your true purpose in writing the story.
