Impressions of Highly Effective Habits

It's no secret, I've been a huge fan of Self Help books and absorbing the wisdom of those who have lived before me, since the time I was very small. The late Stephen R. Covey, was no exception and as I benefited from his words and wisdom for many years, I wanted to take a few moments to share a handful of the habits I found most useful in applying The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. It is in this way I wish to honor a great man who left a significant mark on the world and impacted a great many lives.

Be Proactive
Once I learned to take 100% responsibility for my life and stop blaming my surroundings for my successes or failures, I just did my personal best and learned to accept that as 100% perfect. Covey taught me there are 3 kinds of problems:

  1. Those I have total control over.
  2. Those I have some control over.
  3. Those I have no control over.

This being said, I am still 100% responsible for the way I react to something.

Begin With the End in Mind
Developing a personal mission statement and knowing where I'm headed has been life-changing. It's hard to hit your goal if you don't know where you're going.
"Love others and connect with them while reaching my full potential."
- My Personal Mission Statement
Everything I do, whether it's art, writing, blogging, or whatever, lines up with this purpose. No one benefit's from being at odds with themselves.

Combine Good Habits with Creative Synergy
Synergy means the sum of the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Common sense, right? Even though the journey is longer, it benefits you more to have many good habits, more than just a couple. Also, when applied to communicating, you are more open to new ideas and possibilities, therefore more pliable for growth.

Amplify Your Greatest Asset: YOU
Care for yourself physically; Educate yourself mentally; Lean, commit and don't be afraid to move to higher planes. Progression is whatever you want it to be. Inner peace, huge accomplishments or whatever highly effective means to you as an individual.
